This stage is one of my favorites to photograph.
The sitting that’s never ever still.
The crawling that turns into a game.
This session was quiet and light and so very him. Neutral tones, soft textures, simple wooden toys — nothing competing for attention, because he didn’t need it. His expressions did all the talking. The grin that shows up before he even realizes he’s smiling. The proud little pause after sitting up on his own. The joy of movement once he realized the floor was his.
I love how babies this age are constantly deciding between stillness and motion. One second they’re content, studying the world. The next, they’re on the move — crawling forward with confidence, laughing like it’s the best idea they’ve ever had.
There’s something so tender about these in-between months. Not quite newborn. Not quite toddler. Just soft rolls, curious eyes, and a personality that’s beginning to peek through in the most delightful ways.
These images aren’t about perfection. They’re about remembering how this felt — how small he was, how big his smile was, how joyful the simplest things could be.
Because this version of him will change before you know it.
And this season deserves to be held onto.
